Shayla Caught Delicia and Iman in Bed
Shayla never meant to come home early that night.
The rain had started pouring halfway through her shift, and her boss told her she could head out. She didn’t text anyone. She just wanted to get home, shower, and crawl into bed. The kind of night where silence feels like a relief.
As she unlocked the front door, the house felt… off.
The lights were low, the TV was on mute, and there were shoes by the couch that didn’t belong to her. Her heart skipped, but she brushed it off. Maybe Delicia had company. That wasn’t unusual. Delicia had always been the social one—loud laughter, dramatic stories, always surrounded by people.
Shayla walked down the hallway, her wet jacket still on, her bag slung over her shoulder. She stopped when she heard voices. Quiet. Too quiet.
They were coming from her bedroom.
Her stomach tightened.
“Delicia?” Shayla called out, forcing her voice to sound normal.
No answer.
She took another step. Then another. Her hand hovered over the door handle. Something inside her screamed not to open it, but she did anyway.
The door swung open.
Delicia and Iman froze.
They were in Shayla’s bed.
The world seemed to tilt. Shayla couldn’t breathe. She couldn’t speak. Her eyes scanned the room—the tangled sheets, the look of panic on Delicia’s face, the guilt written all over Iman’s.
Iman scrambled to sit up. “Shayla—wait—this isn’t—”
“Don’t.” Shayla’s voice finally came out, sharp and trembling. “Don’t say my name.”
Delicia jumped up, pulling the blanket around herself. “Shayla, I swear, this isn’t what it looks like.”
Shayla let out a bitter laugh. “You’re in my bed. With him. What else is it supposed to look like?”
Iman had been her safe place. Her person. The one who promised her honesty, loyalty, forever. Delicia had been her best friend since middle school—the one who knew all her secrets, all her fears.
And here they were.
Together.
“You knew,” Shayla said quietly, her voice cracking. “You both knew how much you meant to me.”
Iman looked down at the floor. “I made a mistake.”
Delicia reached out. “Shayla, please—”
Shayla stepped back. “Don’t touch me.”
The silence that followed was heavy, thick with regret and broken trust. Shayla felt tears burning her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. Not here. Not in front of them.
“I trusted you,” she said. “Both of you. And you didn’t just lie—you made me a fool.”
She turned and walked out, grabbing her keys from the table. Her hands were shaking so badly she almost dropped them.
“Shayla, please come back!” Delicia cried.
But Shayla didn’t look back.
Outside, the rain had slowed to a drizzle. Shayla stood on the porch, breathing hard, letting the cool air steady her. Her heart felt shattered, but beneath the pain was something else—clarity.
Some betrayals change everything.
That night, Shayla lost a boyfriend and a best friend.
But she also found something new: the strength to walk away.
And this time, she meant it.
